Are drugs cool? Maybe when they help you throw a perfect game a la David Wells, or a no hitter like Dock Ellis. Sports Illustrated turned me on to this video about Dock Ellis throwing a perfect game while tripping on acid. It's pretty hilarious actually.

Awesome clip
Here is a sweet video mashing up the movie Goodfellas and the baseball playoffs. Jimmy Rollins comes through and Ray Liotta likes it.
Question: What was your favorite post season moment?
I laughed when Matt Holliday got hit in the nads. That's what you get Cardinals!
Other than that I loved all of the god awful calls by the umpires, they made things embarrasing

Deadline Deals
I can't believe the Indians are dismantling this much. Their payroll wasn't even that high! They are ranked 15th out of 30 teams with a payroll of $81 million. Victor Martinez to the Red Sox hurts alot because, to me, he was a great small market guy who put in his work every year. Now, he's just going to be another clog in the Red Sox Machine. The rich get richer again.
Question: Which trade your favorite team has made broke your heart recently?
For me it was when the Astros traded two decent young pitchers, Taylor Buchholz and Jason Hirsh, and Willy Taveras to the Rockies for Jason Jennings. I hate Jason Jennings. After that I was distraught when I heard they had traded Brad Lidge for Michael Bourne and Geoff Geary. Imagine how I felt when Lidge did not blow a single save last year and helped the Phillies to win the World Series.

I said I was going to write about my D Pad obsession but something came up. Courtesy of Sports Illustrated's suggestion I found this video. This is for everyone who loves Press Conferences gone horribly wrong.

Starting Them Out
So I've adopted some nicknames as my own and I want to forward them to the world. Zach Nasty, aka Zack Greinke, is having an All-Star, Cy Young worthy season. He pitches for a terrible terrible team. His team is actually in the process of converting a shortstop, Tony Pena Jr, into a relief pitcher. So their pitching sucks. But Mr Nasty has put up these amazing numbers. 10-6, 2.04 ERA, leads the league in complete games with 5, tied for the league lead in shut outs with 2, tied for second in the MLB with 146 strike outs in 141 1/3 innings. He's a stud. Check out this comparison of him and 4 other pitchers in the AL: Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Felix Hernandez, and Justin Verlander. I am personally counting down the days until the Yankees get the privilege of signing him. But then I remember that he had an anxiety disorder and he probably wouldn't want to go to a high pressure city. That means the Astros stand a chance. Too bad that chance won't come for another 4 years.
Stay tuned for my next blog about my guilty love affair with D Pads

So I found this new show
I was just browsing Hulu yesterday hoping for something new and exciting and look what I found! It's pretty entertaining and short, but worth it in this summer devoid of television
Question: With a nod to "Buster" in this new show, who's you favorite Arrested Development character?

I saw a Josh Hamilton "This is Sports Center" the other night that I thought was hilarious. That led me to youtube where I discovered some other gems. I highly recommend it. Here's one of my favorites.

Triumph makes a comeback
Triumph the insult comic dog made his return to Conan O'Brien's show last night. It's been several years since I've heard from him. We used to gather round the old crappy television and watch Triumph after Triumph until we passed out from laughter. For your enjoyment. Triumph at Bonnaroo. And here's part two!

Astros win a game
Amazing I know. I was actually at the game last night in Dallas vs. the Rangers. It didn't start off so well for us, Brandon Backe gave up solo homeruns in the 1st and 2nd innings. The best news of the night came when he exited the game after the 4th inning...no complaints there. I used to really like Mr Backe. He came to the Astros in a trade with Tampa way back in the early 2000s. The best part about him is that he used to be an outfielder but in the Minors they converted him to pitcher. He's the reverse of Rick Ankiel (Link with hitting and pitcher stats!!!!)! Nowadays he's not good at much of anything, but my friend Marc would probably still want to cuddle with him...Marc's a little on the gay side.

The Astros ended up winning it when Hunter Pence hit a go ahead homerun in the 8th and then he made a nice sliding catch on an Andruw Jones line drive to end the game. I was there with a bunch of Ranger fans, so I got to gloat a bit...not too much since the season series record for us is 1-5, but a little gloating was my right after the victory.
My friend Nathan and I played some Halo yesterday. We won alot, 13-2 to be exact. We didn't really have any terribly terrible games, but we did have one amazingly awesome game. We won 50-10 on Valhalla. That's right, we've got some skills. Disregard the offensive name...it's not my fault.
Picture time for you. Here's one of Molly and I at the Ranger's game decked out in Astros gear. I'm still trying to find one of Molly, Sarah, Yen, and I at the Taste Addison festival from Jack Fm. One of these days!
Fantasy Corner
I'm frustrated with my team now. I think I will just start making some trades to shake it up, if just for amusement purposes.
Question: Who will have a better record at the end of the year, the 30-34 Astros, 36-31 Cardinals, 37-28 Rangers, or the 10-1 Roy Halladay.

Sporadic
I'm a busy man these days, huh? Let me catch you up on what's going on. I've been working alot 49 hours this past week. I got my apartment on Friday and spent the rest of the weekend moving in/setting up. We're getting there, so that's good.
St. Louis was fun though, so that's good. We got to see 2 Cardinal's games, though neither went that well for the home team...or my personal effects. Cardinals first. They never got it going in either game, and this was against Colorado! It was hard to watch. The first game can be blamed on the bullpen. As soon as Wainwright left the new pitchers went 5-6 batters before recording an out....terrible. While all of this was going on in the 7th inning, the meth addict in front of us was going over board. Throughout the whole game she was becoming more and more incoherent. How do I know this? She tried to join us in whatever sort of conversation we were having. Personally, I never had any idea what she was saying. My sisters friends Jessica and Kaity were so disturbed at one point that they had to walk away for our seats. Lucky for them, they came back just in time for the lady to be lying down on the bleachers with her feet in the air...shoeless feet. Tell me that isn't hot. The cou de gras came when she turned around with her eyes glazed over and spit on my friend Marc and I. Yes, she full out spit. I was just happy she didn't throw up because she was definately going on that route. We left to wash our hands in disgust. I heard that while we were gone she was asked to leave and as she was led off by her husband she couldn't handle the stairs and fell down to take a nap. Awesome.
The second game was closer, but the Cardinals still couldn't do it. We did get to see some amazing defense though. There honestly could have been all 5 web gems coming from this game alone. Power was there too. Over the weekend we did get to see many many homeruns. Two or three were right in front of us in the bleachers, so that was nice. The bad part about this game is that after I got my food (chicken stuffed nachos fulled loaded boooooooooooooooooy) and drink I was halfway through my drink when the old man in front of me put his hand almost inside my cup. He was just trying to put his arm around his grandson, I get it, but come on man. What are you going to do? That drinks cost almost 5$...so I drank it. Go ahead, judge me.
Other news from Dallas. Had a men's league softball game on Monday. We won 5-3. We're a team of Juan Pierre's. For the non baseball fan that literally means singles hitters with no pop. Warning track power. Heck not even that much power. We had, I don't know, 8 or 9 hits and only one of them went for extra bases. O well, our defense is solid. I had a highlight reel SportsCenter top 10 play of the night. I was playing third base and the batter hit a foul towards me but it was heading towards the fence. I knew I had to hustle since it was moving kind of fast so I sprinted over while tracking it. I took a second to find the fence and judge the distance. At the last second I leaped onto the fence, reached up, and grabbed the ball as it was about to go over the fence. Duh na na Duh nana. It felt awesome. Wednesday we had a major storm. Tornado strength storm. I was hungry though and I wanted to get some bacon wrapped shrimp from this one restaurant north of town. We literally drove straight into the storm. It was bad...really bad. Could not see more than 30 feet in front of the car. Hydroplaned a few times. Luckily we were driving in my truck which weights over 5000 lbs. so we weren't affected by the wind. By the time we got to the restaurant their power was out and we had to just sit around and ride out the storm. So that was a nice adventure.
Ok guys, I'm real busy so don't expect much out of me. I'll write as much as I can when I can. Sorry for no links today, but at least I wrote one.
Question: How many pounds in a ton?
I think it's 1000, which is why I like to say I have a 5 ton truck. Don't look up the answer until after you answer it!!!!

Illinois
So after a long mostly uneventful trip up from Dallas to Edwardsville we finally arrived. We were greeted with showers of candy and ice cream. Ok that last part isn't true, but it would be cool if it was. I'm up here for my little baby sisters graduation. But that's just the start of the fun! We've got a wonderful weekend of Cardinals games planned as well. The only bad part about that is that they're playing the Rockies. No one likes the Rockies anymore. Does anyone even remember Rocktember? Maybe Roctober? Nope. But it happened. Now we have to live with it. O well, the seats are going to be nice. Friday night we will be experiencing the bleachers and all the bumbling drunks...hopefully. Then Saturday we will be on the first deck down by the right field foul pole. Nathan was kind enough to remind me that it is primo foul ball territory. Get excited!
I know it's been awhile since I've blogged, but I've been busy...very busy. I started my new job which requires waking up at 7am every morning. Combine that with moving out of my apartment and rediscovering my love of Halo and there you have it. I suppose I'll be blogging more the next couple days...but no promises.
Astros Notes
We're on a winning streak! Not only a winning streak, but we also have Miguel Tejada leading the National League in batting average!!! In all honesty I'm more proud of the 3 game winning streak, it'd been so long since we won and now we're on a streak woowoo!
Fantasy Corner
My team still sucks. But the good news is it's close this week, no matter how much Roy Halladay thinks he can single handedly defeat my team. Stupid Roy Halladay.

Where Amazing Happens
If you didn't watch the game last night you missed Lebron do this. Can the playoffs get any better?! I'm starting to think that the NBA really is where amazing happens. I literally jumped out of my chair screaming in disbelief when it happened.
In other news, Jake Peavy went 6 scoreless while striking out 10 yesterday in his first game since veto-ing the trade to the White Sox. A wake up call to other teams wanting him?
My friend Mike gets in town today and we are going to get down to the video game business. If anyone wants to join my new Xbox Live gamertag is bojanglesguru.

Jake Peavy Say What!
Jake Peavy did not want to enter the wonderful world of Ozzie Guillen and vetoed a trade to the Chicago White Sox. It's not the worst decision he's ever made, but it does suck for both teams involved. The Padres would have gotten 4 nice pitching prospects in return while the White Sox would have gotten one of the best pitchers in baseball. One of the propsects was the White Sox #1 overall pick in 2007, Aaron Poreda. He's a lefty with a "plus fastball" sitting in hte upper 90s. Not a bad would be pick up for the Padres, but it wasn't meant to be. This means we continue along the road of wondering when Peavy will get traded.
My roommate Brian and I played Epilogue on COD4 yesterday and we both managed to beat it after a cumulative 100-200 tries. I can't nail down an exact number because it feeds you right back into the level as soon as you fail. I guess I should make fun of my cousin Brett for his inability to compete at our level. You're a scrub man! The sad part is my other cousin Bryan probably is even worse at it yet more competetive about it.
Speaking of Brett, if you have a need for video game news you should head over to his blog and get treated to eye sex. He talks about the new Modern Warfare as well as the new Batman and Lego games coming out. Go. Enjoy.
Has anyone been watching the new round of basketball? I'm kind of thinking that some people may stop tuning in just because their team is out. Wrong. You should continue to watch. The first games of the series were determined by 2 points or less. What's ONE! It doesn't really get more exciting than that. I especially liked the first game of the LA v. Denver series. Carmelo and Kobe went head to head and the results were magical. Is it cheating to continue to link to his blog? Perhaps.
Game 2 of that series was exactly what I wanted, Denver beating LA. Chauncey put in a much better game point scoring wise, but had less assists and rebounds. Oh well, a win is a win. Everyone's still talking about the Chauncey for AI trade; Sports Illustrated's Final Word included. The article talks about how Allen Iverson will be remember. As the All-Star, MVP, Finals appearance guy. Or the guy that when he left teams they became better. He left the 76ers and the next 2 years they made the playoffs. He left the Nuggets and now they're in the conference finals. How about him joining the Pistons and them losing in the first round? He was an amazing player and a lot of fun to watch, but I don't think many of his teammates miss him. He will be missed as a playmaker and highlight reel, that's for sure.
Astros Notes
We lost the series to the Brewers. Trevor Hoffman got another save. I'm not saying he's back, but I am saying that he's doing really really well this year. All-time save leader doing work. I thought he was washed up, had nothing left, should hit the old dusty trail. I'm glad that he's doing well though, I like it when the ballplayers of my youth are still around. That's why I wish Ken Griffey would get things done.
Back to the Astros. We're still floating around .500, which is exactly where I expected us to be at this point. The offense is still coming around, and by that I mean Lance Berkman hasn't gotten hot yet. When one of your best hitters is hitting below .250 you know you have problems. Unless that guy is Ryan Howard and your team is the Phillies. I could probably throw David Ortiz and the Red Sox in there as well. Interleague play starts this week and I'm excited. It means that The Astros and Rangers renew their "rivalry". The bad news is that the Astros have only won the Silver Boot once in the past 5 years.
Fantasy Corner
I'm up this week! Large margin too, 368-168. Joe Mauer has a whopping 107 points so far, me likey, including 90 last night from the Twins 20-1 drubbing of the White Sox. In my Yahoo league I'm down to a team that was auto drafted and doesn't actively manage, slightly embarrassing. I think I'm going to put all the blame on Chris Davis who has been hitting 1/20 the past week...thanks Chris.
I know this blog is very sports centric, but that's what I'm most interested in. My internet was out for a bit so I'm just getting back to watching all the shows, but fear not they will return to the blog.

Back to Normal
Lakers won. Ron Artest had one of the worst series of all time, it was so bad I don't even want to think about it. He averaged 9.5ppg in the last 4 games. Those were the most crucial games with Yao out!!! He did even worse than Kobe! That's right, I just insulted Kobe right in front of your face. I didn't get to watch the game, but after looking at the final score I can say two things
1. Congratulations Rockets on holding the Lakers under 90 and Kobe under 20 points
2. You suck Rockets for losing by 19
I watched The Office's season finale and it was alright. I kind of wanted something better to happen at the end instead of Pam and Jim celebrating. Were they trying to bring in the romance story a little bit more? Give me more awkward Michael and Pam dominating volleyball...that's what I want to see.
So I went to San Antonio this past weekend and had a real good time. Had some awesome food at ChaCho's and County Line. I must say that people in San Antonio love their food! ChaCho's was awesome because we got this monstrous plate of Nachos that had the standard chips with cheese but then added 4 different kinds of meats. There was ground beef, shredded pork, fajita chicken, and fajita beef. They also had various dips to go with it: 2 green dips, 1 red salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. There were four of us eating it and we didn't even finish. Wait, make that 5. And 3 of us were guys. Ok, I don't know if my brother counts as a big eater but I'll throw him in anyways. County Line had really really good bread with butter to start with and then a delicious brisket to make your stomach happy. Don't click that last link. Seriously, you'll hate me if you do.
The other part of the San Antonio trip included time with Molly. Bridal Shower! I'm allowed to put an exclamation point there because I got to eat a lot of free food. Too much man! Nice people, not a bad way to spend the afternoon. We went to the River Walk on Monday. It was weird, because no one from San Antonio could give us a good restaurant reccomendation and they all seemed to think the River Walk was boring. I guess if you lived there a while you'd start to think it was just a touristy thing, which it is, but I think it's also a real nice place to spend an afternoon. Plenty of shade, plenty of restaurants to choose from, and lots of people to watch and make fun of.
I'm actually really looking forward to the Western Conference Finals between LA and Denver. Denver has dominated throughout the playoffs while the Lakers have been slacking. I honestly think that Denver is going to shock the Lakers and beat them in 5 or 6, they just look that good.
Astros Notes
They won Sunday beating the Cubs 6-5. Brian Moehler won his first game after signing his lucrative contract bringing his ERA all the way down to 7.71...I think I hate him. Ivan 'Pudge' Rodriguez hit his 300 homerun. Too bad he was listed in the Mitchell Report or I might feel more oblidged to congratulate him. Today the Astros managed to lose to the Brewers. Trever Hoffman picked up his 10th save of the year and kept his ERA at 0.00. I honestly did not think he could go another year with such great numbers. Then again he's bound to see it rise close to 3, so that means some difficult games lie ahead.
Fantasy Corner
I lost again. I don't have much to say except F you Bryan and your crappy scoring system and F me and my crappy drafting. I had a decent week though, right around the league average. Scoring only 18 points on the final day is rough.

And then Thursday came along
Thursday was not the most joyful day of the year. Our little baby kitten fell ill sometime Wednesday or Wednesday night. By the time we got up to check on her Thursday she was hardly moving and largely unresponsive. She wouldn't take the bottle and didn't make a single noise. We had plans to take her to the vet around 2:30pm, but my roommate rushed her out around 1 because he noticed how much she was struggling to breathe. A little after 1:15 a vet came out and said she didn't make it and that she'd probably picked up a virus before we even found her. It was very difficult to see her limp form. She was loved by so many in her short time. I started calling her Robot for a while, Robo for short, so i guess that is how I will remember her. Little Robo Kitty.
If anyone was so lucky to watch the Rangers Mariners game they received a wonderful present, good pitching at the Ballpark at Arlington. King Felix and Matt Harrison combined for an outstanding game. Anyone out there either rooting for or owning Brandon Morrow in fantasy probably hates the Rangers at this point since he's blown two saves in two days against them seeing his ERA balloon from 4.70 to 9.72...ouch. But anyways, this Matt Harrison guy has two consecutive complete games, has won 4 in a row, and had a 22 inning scoreless streak; not bad, not Greinke, but not bad. Speaking of Greinke, we're going to continue the nickname game! I saw someone on a yahoo message board suggest Zach Nasty as his nickname and I was all over that.
Don't hear much about swine flu anymore now do we? Don't we all just love the 24 hour news cycle? Always makes for great fun.
I'm off to Papasittos...Papasitos...Papassitos...whatever, for dinner. Love their fajitas! Best meat ever. No comments peanut gallery. Then I want to see Next Day Air with Mos Def and Donald Faison, two of the most hilarious people ever. Definitely fell in love with Mr. Faison when he was in Remember the Titans and Mos Def when he was in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Lots of television shows are coming to their season finales, so I'll probably talk about those in my next blog after I watch them all.
Astros update
After the first two games of the series saw teams scoring more than 10 runs, the third game proved more natural with the Astros beating the Rockies 5-3 behind a solid pitching performance by Mr Magic himself Wandy Rodriguez. Go take a peak at his stats, I think you'll be suprised.
Fantasy Corner
The good news is that I'm not being destroyed this week in the ESPN League. The bad news is that I got outscored by over 100 yesterday. I have high hopes for the week, but I still have to assume that I'll lose. Over in my Yahoo league I'm up 8-4 but it's my opponents pitching stats that are scary good, though he has no wins or saves his ERA is 0.00 and his WHIP is 1.05. Ouch. The good news is my offense is still dominating, being led by Adam Jones and suprisingly Chris Davis this week. If you take a gander at the Rangers link above, you'll see Mr. Davis destroying Brandon Morrows offering for the Walk off.

Kitten???
Rockets won again! Without Yao the prospect of winning dropped dramatically, but Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier were having none of that. Yes, I did just say Shane Battier. He who averaged 7.1 ppg this year went off for 23. Heck, he was average 6 ppg during this series until last nights game. My cousin Bryan's man Kobe was looking like junk. He never got in a rhythm and never could pull the Lakers out of their funk. Shutting down Kobe is always job number 1 and the Rockets certainly delivered. He scored only 15 points, but more telling is the fact that he did not shoot a single free throw. You can't win like that Kobe!
I rediscovered my love of COD 4, and my cousin Brett is partially to blame what with his paper writing and all. I took it upon myself to play it again; and by that I mean just the prologue and epilogue. The epilogue is quite possibly the most addicting single player shooter mini game type thing I've ever done. Of course, you have to do it on veteran or you don't get the full effect. Given one minute to storm an airplane and rescue the hostage before it blows up seems nearly impossible; add on the fact that the enemy shoots well and you die quickly and it is impossible. I think out of 100+ times I've played it I've made it to the end 5 times and shot the guy properly 3. Pretty crappy success rate.
My exams culminate tomorrow with BioChemistry and then I get to enjoy the summer. And by that I mean work more than 40 hours a week. But the good news is I won't be working nights, which means xbox party times...as long as I can keep my eyes open. Don't quote me on that last link...unless you enjoy it, then I take full credit.
What's up with that Kitten title Matthew? Well I'll tell you. My roommate Brian found a 2-3 week old kitten in the bushes yesterday and we've semi-adopted it. We've got it situated in this nice little shoe box with a heating pad on the bottom and a rice sock buddy to keep her warm. We have kitten formula and a bottle, but I have to say, feeding kittens is a very difficult task. Her eyes aren't quite open yet and her ears look funny. My girlfriend Molly thinks the ears are too funny for words. Sample conversation:
Molly: Her ears are so tiny is something wrong with them?
Matthew: I don't know maybe she's partially retarded
Molly: Maybe that's why her mom left her
Matthew: Don't say that in front of her!
Molly: She can't hear me! Hahahahahhaha
What a great environment to grow up in huh? Nah, we've been good to her. She is highly vocal... Sounds like a broken machine from the 80's actually. She's growing comfortable with us though, at first she didn't like being picked up and just whined and whined. Now that we have been feeding her she accepts us and wants to cuddle with us.
I don't know what we're going to do with her, but it's fun having a little baby kitten to take care of. Not gonna name her yet!
Astros notes
The Astros had a come from behind victory on Saturday and Roy Oswalt got his first win Sunday. That's a winning streak boys. Berkman's been out with a sore wrist, but I'm not that concerned. I kind of feel like he needed a break anyways.
Fantasy corner
I got dominated in the ESPN league again. I don't really know what I can even say about that league anymore. I currently have 4 people on the DL, but only 2 of them will actually be helpful when they return. Other than that I have to hope that having A-Rod back will spur him and Teixeira to greater heights.
I had just my second overall loss of the year in my Yahoo league, going down 4-7. The crappy part is that of the categories I lost only 2 were substantial losses. So I guess what I'm saying is if Manny hadn't been suspended then I would have won this week. A womens fertility drug??? REALLY?!!!!

And then the Rockets won
Who thought the Lakers would start there series with the Rockets down 1 game to nothing? Especially since they had home court advantage, AND had beaten the Rockets 4-0 during the regular season? I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone from Houston is ecstatic and claiming that "Clutch City" is back, and it's hard to argue against them. First playoff series win in a dozen years, check. Tracy McGrady on the bench, check. Yao Ming coming back from injury instead of leaving like a wuss, check. All the signs point to Championship...
I played in a Sand Volleyball tournament this Tuesday. Should have won...reallllly should have won. We were up by 7 in the final game and ended up losing by 6. It was so frustrating. In happier news it was cinco de Mayo yesterday as well as my friend Kyles birthday, 21 yeah! He really has the perfect birthday...especially now that he's the big two one. I wonder if he'll end up moving to Mexico and celebrating his birthday everyday? That would be the life. We celebrated with a Bojangles team party and then went to Twin Peaks for dinner. Yes, Twin Peaks is exactly what you think it is. The only problem was that our waitress was a piece of crap! She didn't pay any attention to us and didn't seem to care one iota that it was my man Kyle's birthday. I'm just saying Twin Peaks girl, it's your job to flirt with us to get tips and make us come back, but you failed. At one point she was telling us how they rank the girls based on different things...guess what her ranking was out of 45. 43. That's right. We had one of the worst waitresses in the joint. Now I don't know if this had anything to do with the waitress selection, but, we were jacking around when we walked in and were giving each other hilariously blatant high fives. Kind of like this. People at other tables stopped eating to look at us and roll their eyes. Immature? Yes. Hilarious? YES.

Mavs v. Nuggets
What started as a good basketball game deteriorated into a dunk fest all over the Maverick's faces. Things started well with Dirk hitting every shot he took in the first, but Denver's defense got to him over the ensuing quarters. My problem with the Mavericks offense stems from Dirk. During one stretch in the 2nd quarter Dirk got the ball on 4-5 straight possessions and failed to make a play. As in Kidd or BarI think he got fouled once and had some free throws, but other than that he looked terrible! The "Bird-man" was terrorizing him today, and Nene threw in a few blocks for good measure. I'm just saying Mavs, you have plenty of scoring options besides Dirk. Terry was shooting lights out for awhile, but he just never got the ball. And I know that no one really likes Dampier, but he's still your center who can throw it down if he's fed down low. Please give me more JJ Barea as well. 6 feet of awesome! 23 minutes just isn't enough!
Dirk has maaaany problems with the D. He got awfully vocal about it all and was letting the refs hear it a few times. He was on the border several times, even the broadcasters (gasp) noticed it. I prefer my own, in house, broadcaster. According to my roommate Brian "He's the only player in the NBA who wouldn't have gotten a technical for that!!" as well as "Anyone else would have been thrown out if they did that!"
Away from basketball for now. I watched episode 3 of "Parks and Recreation". I have to say it's getting better. Amy Poehler couldn't have annoyed me more the first two episodes, but things are looking up now. I still think it's a cheap knockoff of The Office to try and milk everything they can off that genre. Segway! British "The Office" is coming to Adult Swim. I like the boss in Parks and Recreation as well as Tom. They had a humorous back and forth about online Scrabble during episode 3. In fact, I might continue watching the series just so I can hear the funny things Ron Swanson has to say. Tom's also and I have a long standing man crush on his comedy. I fell in love with Aziz Ansari back when he was doing Human Giant on MTV; then he moved to Scrubs and life was glorious...then he got off Scrubs and life was no longer glorious...but now he's back!
You guys know the Mini Sirloin burgers from Jack in the Box? Well maybe you just know the song. I'm here to let you know they aren't that great. Sirloin as a burger just wasn't meant to be. Do yourself a favor and do like Ryan...go to White Castle...or maybe Krystal Burger. Same idea...better taste.
Astros win! Berkman, Pence, and Lee all contributed and the bullpen kept the Braves out of it for the final innings. Inching closer to .500 boys.

Emerging from the red rings
So I got a new Xbox. I figured that I had all the accessories and games for it so I knew I would either repair my old one or get a new one eventually. The purchase was hastened by several factors:
1. My friends Nathan and Kyle got a new Xbox
2. I'm going to have a lot of free time once classes end
3. I needed a distraction after hearing that my dog Maggie was going to be put down.
Are these good reasons? Debatable. But all that matters now is that I have a new shiny Xbox that I can fall in love with all over again. Things I'm looking forward to about it: 1. HDMI output! 2. Not a launch console so low probability that it will red ring 3. It completes me. Lame. Now I can get back to playing Team Snipers on Halo 3 in my never ending quest to get one of my ranks to be level 50. Also Nazi Zombies for CoD WaW and Horde mode for Gears 2 come back into my life. My afternoons will have purpose again!
I was a little upset about Barak Obama's (President Obama?) press conference on Wednesday. Doesn't he know that Wednesday night is Scrubs and Better of Ted night? Alas I had to sit and watch him answer stupid questions about the swine flu while he ummed his way through the evening. Sometimes it seems he can't go to sentences without saying um or uh. Retarded. The good news is that I'm about to sit down to watch the new Office and 30 Rock and then get my Gears on...got to love Saturday afternoons.
Fantasy baseball has started poorly for me in some leagues and amazingly well in others. I'm first place in my yahoo league with a team complete with Albert Pujols, Dustin Pedroia (D Pads). and Manny Ramirez. Honestly sometimes I don't know how people let me draft so well. I'm looking at you Marc Jeker. Over in the ESPN league, which a few of you might consider the only league worth mentioning. I can't seem to tame this wild and crazy scoring system. It probably hasn't helped me that Chien-Ming Wang Sucker has -74 points for the season. I'm just saying Chien-Ming...come on man, you're embarrassing yourself.
Speaking of embarrassment, how about them Astros? Can't do much worse than get shut out by Zach Duke. Oh wait, they got one hit by Cincinnati Thursday night. In all fairness Edinson Volquez was pitching. Formerly of the Texas Rangers, traded for Josh Hamilton, strong Cy Young candidate last year...you know, that guy. Here's hoping Lance Berkman starts hitting and the Cardinals stop. Though I do like Ankiel's new mustache.
